It appears that the trip computer calculates based on a 17 gallon tank. (well 16.9)
My TC shows that I have 150 miles to E and 165 miles traveled with a calculated average of 18.6 mpg. Lexus is very generous with their 'reserve capacity'.

what mpg is showing on your Dash? Mileage remaining shown will vary based on your current mpg....But as stated above...you will likely get a fuel light when you have used around 17 -18 gal of gas.

So I’m reading that the mileage to empty is really miles left to 16.9 gallons then you go into reserves, last 4 gallons or so. That makes sense because Ive only ever been able to put 12 gallons of gas in to fill it up. Im going to go past that “miles to empty” number and see if I can actually get closer to putting 17 gallons of gas in the tank.
Since there are ~4 gallons left when you hit empty, I regularly wait to fill up until I hit 0 miles. Even with that, I still only fill up ~16/17 gallons, and the tank size is 21 gallons. This has been an adjustment for me, but I am used to it now.
Doesn’t the GX550 have a 17gal tank?

Thank you! As soon as someone posted it hits 0 miles left to “ reserve” that made sense. I was filling up at 50 miles or so and it only took 11-12 gallons. I’ll just push it to 0 miles left or further before stopping. I was really tired of getting gas so often. Thanks for your reply!
