GX550 Aftermarket Wheel & Tire Thread

From experience I would say 285/70R17 or 285/70R18. I was informed that 285/75R17 would be the largest tire that would not rub, but I have discovered that indeed it is not the case.

Basically, at full turn the front tires rub the rear lining and the bracket. I ended up removing the liner since it got torn and the metal bracket it was protecting. I have the King setup so maybe it is different with another lift. I may have to modify the front wheel lining as well.

With current modifications I think I can fit 35/11.5R17 tires.

Has anyone added new wheels while maintaining OEM tires on Overtrail? What wheels did you purchase? I’m looking to add new gloss black wheels, but I’m fine continuing to use OEM tires, but seems like there isn’t a lot of options.

There’s a few of us that use the 265/70r18 tires if you search around

Hello Garauld the ride is more choppy but I am used to it from my pickup truck and I want the strong tire on my ride. I doubt mileage will change because they are very close to the stock tire diameter. they are Michelin defender snow rated AT tires, Michelins are a street tire look but the compound of the rubber will provide pretty good traction on back roads ( no mudding). I have used the same type of tire for several vehicles in the past. After they wear down I will probably upsize by one inch in diameter. Mickey Thompson Bajas YES.
