GX550 Luxury + at the dealer for a new transmission (5k miles)

I have a 24 gx550 OT+. I started experiencing the transmission jerk at 3000miles. Took it in and the dealer did a hard reset. The issue went away for 400miles then came back. Took it back in again, they did another reset and told me to drive it like I stole it. I guess i was babying it. 350miles later, the jerk came back. So I took it back and made it very clear to stop resetting it. I don’t have the time to bring it back every 300miles. They kept the car for 2weeks and sent out a tas case to Lexus USA. When I got it back, they told me there’s no fix at the moment and told me to go home and learn to live with the issue. I was like…..what??!!! I was confused AF.

A week later I brought it to another Lexus dealership to see if there’s any solution and second opinion. The service rept stated, “if it’s transmission issue, we will replace. Don’t worry.” I was relieved. 4 days later, I came back and they told me to wait because there’s no fix. I got so mad, I called up Lexus USA and I told them my situation. A week later, they paired me up with a case manager. She straight out told me, there isn’t any fix and is NORMAL. My issue is normal.

the next day, I called up my attorney and started a lemon law case. 2 months later we WON.

Lexus is trash! How the heck is it normal?
Have your case number, name, filing details etc? May be helpful for others plus interesting to read.

The jerk is back. I’m so tired of this .

Stumbled across this thread, and my GX OT+ does this as well. I have about 5k miles. Noticed it around 3-4k. I would describe it as shuddering, jerkiness, like a stutter at slow speeds through the transmission. It happens right before coming to a stop or coasting close to it. I'd estimate it occurs around 60% of the time in those slower conditions.

The vehicle did not do this for the first few thousand miles. I would have noticed immediately. It is annoying, very noticeable, and borderline unbearable. Unfortunately, this is becoming a widely reported issue.

Going to bring it in before the 10k service. Will report back.

what year is your GX?

Could you provide additional details on the issue you were experiencing? When I come to slow stop, it feel a double bump. Kind of like a hard downshift just before I come to a complete stop. It happens about 25% of the time, I cant figure out what conditions trigger it and why sometimes it comes to smooth stop with no thump.
I have the same exact problem. I am also thinking it might be the transmission since it only happens when you drive above certain speed and come to a complete stop.

Did they take the car back full refund? What were you awarded?

Dang I hate reading this. If Lexus keeps doing this type BS, they are going to get a bad rep for poor quality much more widely known than just this forum, which is one of the main reasons so many people buy Toyota/lexus. They told me same thing. And they told me same thing about the poor ride quality. “It is just how these trucks are.” For the later, they claimed it was the shocks. Well, pretty sure it’s NOT the shocks/springs because I replaced mine. So disappointing because this is one the most badass rigs they’ve ever come out with, outside of its issues. I literally freak out every time I see mine when I walk outside because it looks so awesome and I know I’ll be getting that back massage within minutes LOL. The thing that really sucks is that even if you got them to lemon law it, you’d have to be nervous to buy another one because of the high possibility of the same issues. The transmission clunk on downshift seems to be becoming very ubiquitous very quickly. There’s a whole other thread about it now.

03/30/2025 - I confirmed with my dealership that Lexus has released a new transmission program to address the downshift issue for 2024 models. If you own a 2024 model, you may want to check with your dealership about this update.

For the 2025 model, Lexus has not released a new program yet. According to the dealership, the codes for the 2024 and 2025 models are different.

Interesting. My 2024 Overtrail hasn't had any of the jerky shifting into 1st since they reset the transmission about 3,000 miles ago.
