For Houston members:

Our GX is arriving from out of state this week. We live about equidistant between Westside Lexus and Sterling McCall Lexus, and I need to decide which to make our service center. Any thoughts on which is preferable? Thanks!

sterling mccall is ass

i would never do business with them ever again, or any group1 dealer

text mary 713 392 4308 and tell her ricky sent you and you're looking for your car to be picked up and dropped off

sterling mccall, and the respective employees are

incompetent
lazy
unethical

list goes on and on

while im ranting, lexus in general is pretty trash, things are not what they used to be, my first lexus was a 1994 ls400

mary is a glimmer of hope in a sea of shit, if it werent for mary, i would have stopped buying lexus a while ago

westside lexus sister dealership, northside, has a great tech specialist - melissa o connel, who has produced numerous lexus deep dives and put them on youtube

Northside Lexus up towards the Woodlands has been fantastic for us since getting on the list back in December 2023 and taking delivery in July '24. Our brakes do the squealing thing in reverse after rain and all I had to do is call them and talk to a service tech and they ordered the parts and they are replacing evertyhing a the next service. They also come in pick up my neighbors Lexus at her house 45 mins from the dealerships and deliver it back when they are done for free (it's her 4th or 5th Lexus through Northside though so I don't expect that VIP treatment).

I bought my 2025 GX550 in New York and drove all the way to Houston today. Im leaning towards to Westside. It is just close to me. Im living in Katy

Any idea, what is it? I think it is something to do with plates

Just checked and yes, exactly perfect match. Bumper has 4 barely visible holes, i think it is for 4 screws. Is it ok to drill like this?
Honestly I haven't done it. When I took my own front plate holder off, it looks like the dealer just drilled the screws in with no pilot holes. Like I said I haven't done it, but I'd drill pilot holes if I was going to.

I live in the Houston area and didn't put the front plates on my wife's RX or my GX. Kills the look of a great looking vehicle IMO. The front license plate "requirement" seems to be a gray area in Texas.

i agree, plates in front kills the look.
I have been driving tesla for last 3 years and don't have front plates, however friend of mine got ticket in Houston for this.
Actually, he was speeding, and officer gave second ticket for front plate.

in houston there are only two groups you can buy lexus from

gulf coast toyota (west side lexus and north side)

and group 1 - sterling mccall south houston, clearlake

on my is-f when the door panels were all fucked up, lexus corporate wouldn't help me, mary at west side lexus helped me and my 8 year old car got a brand new interior, a few months later an official tsb was released about the issue

i purchased my is-f the same day i purchased my ls600, from sterling mccall, they told me they would do pick up and drop off for service, they refused to do that.

i gave my sister my isf after i got the water pump replaced by sterling mccall, they failed to replace it correctly, engine light came on, they told my sister she needed a new water pump!, just very unethical people, its group1 all the way down

i went to sterling mccall body shop on murphy road, they caused a paperwork issue between them and enterprise where enterprise put me on the do not rent list for ~3 years, very incompetent, after my gx460 was repaired the doors still didn't close properly

i had pretty much totaled an rc-f track edition at a track event, west side lexus collision had no problem getting everything back to normal, can't even tell there was an accident

a good sales person at a good dealership can work wonders

a bad sales person at a bad dealership ruins the experience

That’s good to know, it was Sterling McCall that quoted a ridiculous wait time for squeaky brake replacement. I think I’ll give Westside a try. Both are equally distant.

Make sure you text Mary, she has been with Lexus since they started, at west side since they started, don't work with a chump who just bounces around dealerships and brands

Sorry for off topic post, but since we are discussing Lexus in Houston.
How long it takes to get plates? i bought the car in New York, paid Texas taxes, registration, etc. Dealer submitted papers to Texas DMV to get plates, so it will be shipped to them and then they will ship to me.

I don’t see a Mary in service, are you talking about Mary in sales? Not sure how inclined she would be to help if I bought at Sterling McCall?
