Hey everyone, just curious to know if this is really a deal or not ... Let me know your thoughts.

NY dealer is offering MSRP but you must buy "a package or two" of their protection or maintenance plans. Some of the options they are offering are ceramic coating for interior/exterior for $1,000 and Tire & Wheel Platinum plan for $2,600. They also have maintenance and warranty but I don't think that would even be worth the $$$.

I plan on doing PPF so it seems pointless to have ceramic coating done first. The tire plan includes tires, up to 6 rim refinishes, windshield, and unlimited PDR. Since this is an OT+, it seems hard to have pothole/curb damage on the thick 18" tires and I may not get the benefit of this package. It is a Lexus plan and not from a 3rd party. I was thinking of possibly getting it, then cancelling it immediately for a refund.

Should I look elsewhere for a true MSRP deal? There is no dealer fee being charged, just tax and title which are priced correctly. The GX just left Japan last week so wait time shouldn't be too bad.

Not a deal.

if in NY...there are several dealerships doing MSRP with no add-ons

Try Marcello at New Country Lexus of Great Neck.

I was going to order from them but found a local deal to save on shipping costs

you can also try waiting until it arrives and saying that you won't buy it with any add-ons. A dealer is more prone to negotiate once the GX is on the lot. They want to be able to move it out of there as quick as possible.

I would recommend the extended maintenance plan. That would be a great deal, I bought the 4y/40k mile for around $1500, which covers ALL maintenance that's in the books not just Oil and tire rotation. If you looked at the maintenance booklet, you can find them online, GX550s are pretty maintenance heavy. At 30k on top gear oil change, you got brake fluid replacement and at 40k they call for spark plug change. The plan covers everything, even your key fob battery. If you look under the hood and see how buried the spark plugs are compared to the 460, its well worth the price. Just the 30k service alone is close to 1k, in 4 years I bet the 40k service will be 1k or more.

Another plan you can buy is the extended warranty, you can extend the factory warranty to match the powertrain 6/70K miles warranty. You can sell it later and its transferable to the next owner.

I did the all the maintenance myself on GX460 for refence. This is engine is extremely complex.

Thank you so much for the recommendation munkeeboi !!! I called him up and made a good deal on an OT+ that is already enroute and will arrive sooner. The news of the 2025 with the 1" lift kit seems like you almost had to wait for it. But the price savings now and ~3 week wait time is much better. I rather spend the money on better aftermarket lift options than pay $1,800 for the factory lift and onboard compressor. Probably wont see a 25 until May based on what a few told me today.

As far as maintenance and extended warranty. I deny them all. I do my own maintenance and own a variety of cars. I'm used to buying specialized tools for every job that I start. You should see my collection of brake bleeders and spark plug sockets ... I would prefer to spend the money on the PPF since we do lots of highway driving.

More power to you and good luck, post some tutorials when you figure out how to ACCESS the plugs in this one or change the coolant in the heat exchangers. This is close to a BMW very maintainance heavy, which hopefully makes it last a long time.

I recommend having a conversation with the dealer and tell them what you're not interested in and what you would be interested in. My dealer wanted $600 for ceramic protection on the infotainment screen and $1k+ for some sort of interior "protection plan". I told them I wasn't interested in any of those but that I would be interested in PPF. I ended up getting the front 1/3 of my GX done with XPEL Ultimate Plus.

lol at BMW maintenance. Thats where most of my experience lays. I’ve don’t spark plugs where you have to dissemble h the back half of the engine bay just to get to cylinder 6. Water pumps and valve covers …. Seem like a walk in the park these days. Not fun jobs at all but it’s DIY possible.

The same dealer was telling me they “have” to ceramic coat it. Give me a break. Then they offered to PPF the front half with them and then I can take it to my own shop for the rest lol.
