OEM Air Compressor

Will this mod only work on Overtrail models, or will it work with any GX550?

I am hoping to get a Premium, and I know this would be a very useful mod, and although I know I can use a viair or ARB unit, or another version, I also think it is worth the cost for a clean-looking install that looks and is OEM. I especially like this because it is out of the way.

You’re write up and photos were super helpful. Finished my install today. Went smooth, longer than 45 minutes, but I’m maniacal about those trim clips and not breaking them. That’s a big piece of plastic to reseat and took 2 tries to get all the trim clips seated properly.

It’s very elegantly integrated, no regrets…

Any idea where that little black rubber cover/nipple thing was to be installed?

I figured it went over one of the bolts holding the compressor to the wheel well.
I thought there drain hose was a little close to the exposed threads.

That is my issue.

The smaller/more affordable portable compressors really have their tongues hanging out by the time they add even 15psi or so to a single typical 33 inch tire. My CAT jump pack struggles to barely add a little air (maybe 6-10psi) to all 4 car (Not truck) tires when it is parked at the airport and I get back to 4 low tires because of a temp drop.

If I have a major issue and have to plug more than one completely flat tire or I have already used the spare, I am up a creek without a good paddle if all I have is a jump-pack small compressor or a small portable unit like a cheaper Slime Heavy Duty.

I may not be able to get home. I hate that feeling of helplessness, and where I used to work very far Offroad, there wasn’t any cell signal or anyone coming to help me anytime soon.

The DeWalt supports 120V AC, 12V DC, and 20V battery sources. I've added 10 PSI to all 4 33's on my F-150 reasonably quickly.

Nice to finally see an install, and that they go on sale. It's super clean and keeps the HOT compressor out of the way when done. I have a stand alone Viair and it has worked great for 5 years so far filling up 35's. It is very cool to have a clean factory option that lives with the rig tucked out of the way. That is what you are mostly paying for. In a good way this time. Thanks for posting the pics and discount links.

Agreed. This is all about having it cleanly built in, convenient, and out of the way.

I have had a few portable ones over the years including Viair and they do get HOT. I'm gonna be hopeful and assume the engineers have done their homework and the back passenger corner of my cargo area isn't going to melt if I use the compressor!
