Well....I finally received my JW Offroad bumper tonight at 7:00 PM.

The design looks great from what I can tell looking at 2 boxes with about a dozen pieces in them. There is a very stout center section/winch tray and all the nuts & bolts in the first box (about 80 lbs) plus a second box (about 30 lbs) with the right and left outrigger sections of the bumper plus various brackets.

Unfortunately, the big 80+ lb box with the center section was beat to shit. The corners of the box were ground away and tattered. The box has clearly been dragged between stops. It's heavy....it was just about all I could do to lift it up and carry it from my front door to my garage. The bumper inside has the powder coat scratched & rubbed off and gouged in many places. The two front recovery points (the sharpest points on the bumper) are rubbed down to metal. The bumper face itself is rubbed down to metal. I don't know what the f*ck you'd expect shipping an 80+-lb piece of metal in cardboard with only bubble wrap to protect it.

The smaller 30-lb box had all the various pieces excellently wrapped and they are all fine, just a few rubs on one of the outriggers that must have happened before it was shipped.

I'll have to decide what to do. I paid $300 extra for the powder coat and I'll be touching it up with every day black paint if I keep the bumper. I was looking forward to a good powder coat to keep the bumper protected from the elements. As it was received, the spots ground down to metal will rust in no time, even in the dry Arizona desert.

I'm hesitant to return it because I don't want to wait months for shipping a new one with the promise that it'll ship "in the next couple days."

Really bummed right now....

Mate that blows, I would be returning it and asking for a more effective delivery solution going forward as every time you walk past the car you are going to see the damage or feel the pain of what you had to do to try and fix it.
Waiting a few more months to get a close to perfect product that you ordered will be worth it! 👍👍👍

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. I would return it and wait it out if you really want the bumper or just get a straight refund. I'm sure the return will be an adventure too.

Ahhhhh....I decided to man up and just go with it. That's pretty much how I live my life.......give it your best and then just go with it.

I'll strap on a pair of balls and just touch it up with my Testors black model paint. Normally I'd be like, "Who cares, let's go bash it against some rocks" but the reality is that I won't be bashing this Lexus against the rocks. Therefore, I wanted to have a perfect bumper because I doubt I'll even scrape it on rocks. Even if I do scrape it or bang it on rocks, I paid a full-price $300 for powder coating and it's damaged. If powder coating was part of the base price, no big deal at all. But if you're gonna charge me 3 bones for it, then it damn well better be perfect.

I'll communicate with the vendor and start the installation process this week. So far, JW Offroad has been a pleasure to work with. I'm sure they'll be upset that the prep and shipping didn't protect the center section.

They might even refund some of the powder coating fee or offer you a discount on something else. 👍

Sorry, that's such a bummer. Love your attitude about it. I would at least ask for a refund on the powder coating. I had the same problem with the rock rails for my Tacoma. I used black Rust-oleum paint which matched perfectly. Of course living on the coast I have to touch it up periodically because of the rust. Good luck and sorry for your disappointment.

I got my panties in a bind and I over-reacted last night. I have some flat black spray paint and I'll use that to touch it up (spray it in the cap and then dab it on with a small art brush). The only way to get perfect items is to pick them up locally. Shipping sucks. Although the big, heavy center piece should have been crated. One of you guys received a NYTOP bumper and it was properly protected and crated so it is possible with the proper forethought.

Now on to installing it.....I guess I'll have to figure it out as there are no instruction provided! LO-f'in-L.

Sorry about the shipping issue. I was the one with the NYTOP bumper that came packed really well. I'm also getting rock rails from them, and hope that they continue with the 'pack it great' program. I'll report.

Here are some good instructions from Victory 4x4:

GX Front Bumper | Blitz | 550 (24+) - Victory 4x4

I'm in the process of fitting my RIGID 3" cube lights. I have to drill in some holes for the mounting bolts. Shouldn't be too big of a deal. Will hopefully get them mounted tomorrow and then also get the winch hard-mounted in the winch tray. Then Sunday tear apart the front end of the GX and get the bumper installed. I don't know if the winch solenoid will fit on top of the winch in the winch tray, or if I'll have to move the solenoid to the engine bay. Will probably have to move, will have to experiment tomorrow. The problem is that you're experimenting and mounting a very heavy item so it's hard to get it to all come together.

I've finally had some time to work on the JW Offroad bumper. I touched it up with some flat black paint and it's OK. Getting the Rigid 3" cube lights mounted was a pain in the ass for sure, I ended up drilling and inserting the bolts up through the angled bottom of the bumper. A little flat black paint on the carriage bolt and it blends right in. The Rigids fit pretty well. Hard to get your hands in there and work with the light and tools but that's par for the course. The winch itself sits alright on the mounting holes, will be able to work the free spool lever fine.

The main problem will be where to mount the solenoid. I think I'll be an inch or two short of clearance to mount the solenoid on top of the winch but I'll have to check more closely. The other issue is that if I mount the solenoid on top of the winch then how will I reach the power switch and the plug-in for the controller? The solenoid will be behind the slats in the GX's front fascia. I don't really want to cut a little door into the slats. Maybe I'll have to mount the solenoid in the engine bay (and get extensions for the winch wires).

These are the things you need to try to figure out before you tear the front end of the truck off!

I've done winches & bumpers on 2 past Land Rovers. But now I'm realizing that crawling around or on my hands & knees on the garage floor, fastening and unfastening bolts, lifting and moving 100 lbs of steel, contorting my hands into small spaces, etc. was a lot easier 15-20 years ago.

Man, companies who can’t package goods well enough not to be damaged, says a lot
I had a 3k dollar roof top tent from CVT damaged and they didn’t accept responsibility of replacing it. Shipping carriers don’t care about handling packages carefully, I know I worked at FedEx many years.
Seems like a bit overtaking of a job to get things to fit with that bumper. I hope you can get everything to work and you be happy with it.

Update - I did get a call from JW Offroad offering to replace the central part of the bumper that was damaged in shipping. I haven't called them back yet but I will on Monday (I was offline most of last week). I'll decline because I already had the light holes drilled and test fit. Then I removed the lights to paint the bare steel where I drilled the mounting holes and I touched up the areas where the powder rubbed off at the same time.

The best result will be if JWOR crates or double-boxes or whatever it takes to secure the winch tray for shipping from this point forward.
