Squealing Brakes 550 Overtrail

I was in the dealer shop for my 10K service on 12/28/24 and on that day they ordered the brake components to fix my squeal. Dealer just called this morning, 01/10/25, to say the parts are in. So that only took 13 calendar days, including a holiday.

I’ve heard “backordered” brakes 2x now…
I’ve had the repair done. Its the anti-rattle spring that’s BO’d. I was told Toyota is using all the spare brake parts, thats why some people get delayed longer than others. Also, dealers won’t order the parts until they verify the squeal in person. I got lucky and they ordered them just based on my word.

I had mine done last week, so now, thankfully, no squealing. On the sudden thump at times with the transmission I was told that Lexus is aware and coming out with a software fix.

My OT front brakes started squealing loudly about a week ago, after 6 weeks of ownership. I am camping in my trailer near Tucson on dusty roads, but this seems way beyond dust. I have an appointment with Lexus in Tucson on Tuesday, and gave them the TSB info from another post.

What have dealers told you about the cause of the problem? Is it safe to drive? I need to drive 1,000 miles home to Colorado soon. A post above suggests an anti-rattle spring. The TSB states only use a new specially marked rotor. I plan to power wash the dust off before my appointment, just to rule that out. Thanks for your help.

On a positive note, I really like my OT. It’s a joy to drive off road.

Yes safe to drive. Dust and. Dirt makes it worse, clears up a bit clean. There’s a technical service bulletin and fix, new brake rotors pads and shims… so hot rod the hell out of it before service. Call ahead, for service might be a week or so to get parts.

Well, it would be kinda crazy if they have issued a formal TSB fix to address the problem, but they're still producing new vehicles with the same issue, no?
Maybe. Supply chain could be an issue. 2025s are rolling off the assembly line now just as repair parts are hitting the dealers for the 2024s. If Lexus had enough to supply both lines - but suspect some early 2025s may have the issue.
If you’re a buyer just ask them to verify the build has the update. And if not get it don’t before delivery.

My dealer has opened a service call with Lexus and is taking direction from Lexus. I don't think it's a "scorched earth" plan. It is my belief they are doing the extensive-comprehensive fix because they know what the issue is and it's beyond just replacing the brake pads.
Have the same issues. Lexus dealer is telling me that Lexus is aware but the dealer can only make one claim per week per GX. Soooo I am number 8 and have to wait 8 weeks for the parts to arrive…BS! 2500 miles!

No this is really not a big deal.

Sounds like dealer BS. I called 3 dealers and booked 3 appts. I got 3 calls within 10 days from all 3 saying they had inbound parts. Just try a different dealer if you don’t like the answer.

Warranty work isn’t as lucrative as you broke shit work.
