Correct, the tech mentioned something about the software learning driving habits and reset apparently "unlearned" whatever was causing the hard downshift to 1st.
The description on the paperwork states "Technician verified harsh downshift into first gear when coming to a slow stop. Technician cleared transmission memory."
In a previous post, I described a harsh downshift clunk when slowly coming to a stop. Most noticeable in stop and go traffic. Sometimes felt like two bumps, one around 3-5 mph, and the second just when I come to a full stop. I was not sure if this normal for that type of transmission or if...
I have a stock Overtrail and at night with low beams, I am getting flashed (high beam) by oncoming traffic and other times oncoming vehicles are not switching from their high beam to low beam. Any one else coming to the conclusion that the GX550 headlights are too much for ongoing traffic...
Like some others on here. Is in my garage taking up space. Will likely get an aftermarket rack (Prinsu, Wescott, etc) with reportedly little to no wind noise. The rack from the factory will be given away. I spent over an hour at the dealership trying to delete the rack when I bought the the...
It sounds similar to issue I had (see above) and was fixed at dealership. Have someone press (outward direction, not down) on the passenger door arm rest when going over bumpy road and see if if the noise goes away. I'm sure in your trouble shooting you ruled out a very simple rattle I...
I'm starting to think what I'm noticing is normal downshift behavior/programming to first gear. I tried pushing the tow/haul button next to the driver mode dial and it definitely makes that downshift thump when coming to slow stop but even more aggressively and reproducibly than when the...
I have an OT and removed the roof rack, MUCH better. However there is still an odd wind noise that is coming from the mirror or pillar starting around 40 mph. Need to play around more to see if I can better pinpoint it.
I've been paying more attention. It only happens after I've been driving about 30 minutes or so. The transmission stays in 2cnd or 3rd while I slow down for a stop, and then right when I stop (well below 3 miles) it bumps, sometimes twice, with a hard downshift to 1st. When the vehicle has...
Mine does that fairly often. I think it has something to do with syncing to CarPlay on my iPhone, and when it is synced relative to how soon I start the car. The built in Lexus map will be in dark mode, but if I switch to Google maps it will be in daylight mode. It will stay like that until I...
Thanks Bluegill. That may be what I'm noticing, the downshift to first at around 3 mph. I did some searching and see others have commented on that noticeable downshift just before stopping.
Similar observation, but I'm finding the sweet spot is even more challenging with the heat. Especially when the outdoor temp is in the 50-60 degree range it is challenging to get a bit of heat. Even when I turn the auto setting off, it still wants to blow hot air.
Could you provide additional details on the issue you were experiencing? When I come to slow stop, it feel a double bump. Kind of like a hard downshift just before I come to a complete stop. It happens about 25% of the time, I cant figure out what conditions trigger it and why sometimes it...
I sometimes have that issue. I noticed it never happens when my phone is plugged with a cord to one of the two charging ports, I need to see which one I use
I consistently notice the same thing. I assume now that is normal, and is related to acceleration programing either for safety or energy efficiency. Seems like the gear selection in a factor as well, almost like it upshifts too soon follow by hesitation, then a downshift. I'm at around 8000...
That's all I use. I had a Landcruiser 100 that called for high octane, and I only used regular. At 250,000 miles rust did in the body, and a sold/gave it to someone in TX who used the engine and drivetrain for a rebuild.
There is an option of having (button near armrest) the mirrors fold in towards body of the car all the way, for tight parking. Push that button while driving, and see if the noise goes away
Any possibility its coming from your driver side mirror? Try folding it all the way in and see if it goes away. I have high pitched "whistle" noise at that same speed you mentioned.
I have an OT and removed the factory rack. Feels like a new vehicle without the excessive wind noise. I'm going back and forth between the Victory and Wescott roof rack. I can't tell from the pics of the Wescott roof rack, do the sides of the rail (other than the mounts) physically contact...
Yes, I tried so many different things to isolate the sound. It was passenger door behind the arm rest area. It was driving me crazy. I took it it the dealership and they heard it as well. They worked on it for 4 hours, and eventually fixed it. I think it had something to do with the door...
I tried removing the rubber gasket/blade on the underneath of the front edge, and definite reduction in wind noise. Was quite surprised at how easily it peeled off, and makes me wonder if the observed lack of adhesive at the leading edge of that rubber piece creates some of the noise.
