GX550 Hybrid engine

Had a deposit on a Land Cruiser…drove one and the hybrid was …meh… to me. Cargo area a concern as well as the lag with engine shutting off and restarting. No way to turn that off on the LC…gotta deal with it…then I drove the new GX OT+….decision was easy after that…completely different feel, sound, smoothness, etc…bought the Lexus two days ago…getting my refund back from Toyota ASAP…nobody drives these vehicles for economy and the real world difference is negligible…I’m getting 17.5-18 mpg…expect will improve as it breaks in…Most LC owners struggle to get 20 or more…

I waited 14 months with a deposit at my local Toyota dealership and gave up. I made the switch to the GX and bought a Premium Plus in August and could not be happier. I just took it in for my 5k service. I am avenging 19.7 MPG over the entire time. I keep it set on ECO dive mode and it has as much driving power as I could ever want. I keep reading owners are struggling to get the rated MPG on the LC. A lot of extra hassle for minimal payback. My 19.7 MPG includes towing 5500#’s 31 miles. It is highly unlikely they will put the 3.5v6 PHEV engine in the GX. The electrified version was developed to give extra power to the Sequoia and the Tundra. I would not buy the GX with the LC engine but that is my guess is their plan. Too many trade offs and not much to gain…..
