👋 Welcome to the Lexus GX 550 Forum! Please post an introduction thread!

Hello, new member from Cincinnati here. Not yet a GX owner, I was looking at the new 4runner, but, considering the price and concerns about the new powertrain, I'm now leaning heavily toward the GX Overtrail or Overtrail +.

I am nearing retirement and hope to do some serious road trips (with some light off-road adventures) with this vehicle. I am a "buy and hold" person and would plan on this lasting me 10 or more years.

Struggling with this "new market" that we find ourselves in. The last time I bought a new car, I was basically able to order what I wanted. In this new world of "dealer allocations" and wait lists, I am personally struggling to wrap my head around it.

In any event -- glad to be here and look forward to learning more through this forum!

Hi all! I'm a new member from Southern California. Always been loyal to Lexus and recently handed down my 2018 RX to my nephew - boy does time fly... Happy to share that I've upgraded to the GX 550 Overtrail+ in Nori Green. Loving it so far and planning to keep it forever. We also have a 2-door Jeep Wrangler that is currently being worked on after a long hiatus. My partner and I plan to go overlanding all over the US while checking off more National Parks from our list! Cheers 🍻
Atmos, that's my top choice -- Overtrail + in Nori Green / Black. Like you, I plan on visiting many national parks with it! Overlanding might be a bit much for me & my partner, but definitely look forward to getting it off road on some trails. Would be very interested in your early impressions and how you are liking the Nori Green --- I think it looks great in that color!

Hi All, just picked up our OT+. Love the car. But, unfortunately, one of the tires blew out on the fwy on our trip back home. Only 370 miles on the odometer! Didn't look like we hit any obvious road debris. Not sure if I have any recourse with Lexus or Toyo given the way the tire blew out. Anyways, hoping to move past this rough start and being able to enjoy it without any further problems. Looking forward to being a part of the GX community.

Hello from San Antonio, Tx
Not an owner yet but already placed order for the first week of April.
"We" decided to go with the GX because the wife gets sick (medically speaking) driving her Cadillac CT5 V.
For whatever reason she gets sick driving the car, we used to have a 2017 (I think) CTS and the same thing happened, we never thought it was because of the car until now that happened again.
So... doing research, for the $73k - $75k is hard to beat the GX comparing to any other large SUV
Ordered the 2025 Overtrail Nori Green, to "match" my truck Ram 2500
Already purchased the Mud Flaps / Splash Guards and the Fender guards
Planning to buy 22" Bronze wheels, but have not decided which model Fuel Sigma, Niche Calabria 6 or Fuel Rebar
I am worried about the offset, dont like the wheels and tires sticking out too much, at least not for the wife's truck.
Thanks
I will keep posting

GX looking good, tire not so much. We pick up our OT+ Atomic tomorrow morning. Looks like I’ll be replacing tires sooner than planned.

Hello from Alabama! After test driving MANY nice makes and models, I just love the Lexus ride and drive so I placed my order. I waited 8 months on my Lux+ GX and finally received it in October ‘24. It is my 3rd Lexus, but first GX. I love the luxury feel but wanted a little less luxury look so hubby bought me Vossen wheels. I’m debating on painting or wrapping the top black. We also have a Bronco when we feel we need the tonka toy ride.

Just joined the community today with an Incognito GX500 OT+.
Coming over from a very disappointing experience with Ineos Grenadier.

Cheers

Greetings! Just purchased a GX550 Premium+. Have owned SUVs for 35+ years with Ford Explorers and Honda Pilots. Looking forward to a lot of helpful info on this forum.

Welcome!

Maybe consider a post about your Grenadier experience? That and the Defender were high on my list for my next vehicle, and I'm sure many other not-yet GXers who are looking at this forum are in the same place.

Grenadier was a NICE LOOKING and QUITE CAPABLE off-road vehicle. However, the supply chain from UK means significant delays for all parts. Dealers are sporadic throughout the country - closest to me 90 minutes one way. The ADAS system has a known glitch and the programming solution has been "coming" for 9 months! The HVAC system - TRAIN WRECK! The only way to get heat was through floor board vents. Any blower vent setting above 2 would "flutter" and sound like a jet engine (again, known issue, no resolution). With a service animal in my car whenever I am - the HVAC was the last straw. The gremlins and engine lights were constant and required towing to the dealer leaving me without a car/loaner for days. The juice wasn't worth the squeeze anymore.

Ouch. Just saw one with 5K miles for sale at the local Toyota dealer.

Been on the waiting list since October '24. Found out I'll be getting my Premium+ Nori Green w/grey seats/bench in April. Wasn't my first choice for a combo but I'm sure I'll love it.

I was originally looking at the new Landcruiser (I have an '84 FJ60), but need a 3rd row for road trips and occasional guests in town. I'm not planning on a lot of mods but think I'll add the Peak 1.25" front lift and some 17" Methods with 275? Toyo AT IIIs. It's just for aesthetics. I don't offroad in Missouri but I do require a 4WD for road trips. Xmas is home to Michigan every year and I have family in Maine and Ontario that would like to see us more often.

I've been lurking for awhile and enjoy the knowledge and respect I see here versus the FB groups. Thanks to those that garner the knowledge for me to steal. You are appreciated! ;)

Just got the GXtreme back from applying ICON Rockclear ceramic coating! If you are in the Northern Virginia/Capital Region - this guy is simply the best - #Veteran #SupportLocal

Thanks for the add. About to pull the trigger on an Overtrail+ and "enjoy" the wait. Currently drive a '99 LX470 and her time has come. She was an awesome, reliable, brickhouse. Live in the greatest state of Texas (DFW area). Want to learn about owner's experiences with the GX550. Interested in mods, especially wheels, ecu, tcu, downpipes. JK on the last 3

Once again. Thanks for the add.

Hello!

Just joined the forum and thought I’d introduce myself. Recently relocated to the Bay Area from Arizona. Miss my desert adventures but excited to explore the new area.

Recently picked up an Incognito OT+ and quickly went to work on it (well my shop back home did!). I have been an avid outdoors adventure seeker with this being my first Lexus. I have four boys with my youngest being my co-pilot and looking forward to our adventures in the GX. I’ll figure out where to post a full build out of it but here’s some pics of the new rig after it’s make up.
