đź‘‹ Welcome to the Lexus GX 550 Forum! Please post an introduction thread!

Hey,
I've had my GX550 OT+ since November 2024. I've taken 2 trip with it and just dropped it off for a 5000 mile service and hopefully to address some of the issues. I do love it, but it does have some issues, some of which are design issues. I'm on the road again this month and will put 8000 miles on it over the next 2 months. I plan to post about the issues I see on the thread that is set up for that.

Welcome to the forum.

Just got told my Nori Green Premium+ will be arriving by the first week of March. Looking forward to adding the GX with my IS500. Can’t wait.

Hi,

Proud new owner of a 2024 Nori Green OT+ that I picked up 3 weeks ago and have driven 1,200 miles (more than typical for me). Some quick things that I've read others discuss from a likes/dislikes standpoint and what I'm seeing/hearing so far:
  • No issues with brake squeak to speak of (backwards or forwards). The vehicle was built in Nov/Dec so maybe they already replaced the break issues a the factory? I hope so anyway.
  • Very little hood flutter. I don't think it would be noticeable at all if not for the angle/pitch of the hood from driving view. Not sure if this is a factory fix or it just doesn't bother me as much as others.
  • Drives and handles incredibly well in snow. We were up at our cabin in the Michigan UP this past weekend driving in some very snowy/icy conditions. The vehicle handled it like a champ and felt more stable than any other vehicle I have/driven in same conditions. Wife commented how stable it handled through snow and hilly/icy roads.
  • The roof rack noise is pronounceable at 45<MPH. I think it looks cool but I have to think long and hard if it's worth it. I was hoping I'd receive a "new and improved" (quieter) roof rack that was rumored, but it's the same one dating back to the vehicles roll out. I won't have much use for it, so I think at some point soon I'll remove it and install the filler pieces that others have used.
  • All of the beeps and warnings are annoying, especially drivers "attentiveness" and cross traffic. I don't think there's a solve for turning these off?
  • Everyone harps about the too small of a gas tank and that's real, but just as annoying is the "zero range" warning when you still have at least 3-4 gallons (40-60 highway miles) in the tank. My wife is the type to go into panic mode anytime we pass a filling station with less than 40 miles "range", so I found I'm stopping to fill up and the tank only taking 15-17 gallons of fuel in a 21.2(?) gallon tank. Dumb. Hopefully there's a software fix for this down the road that communicates true range of available fuel.
  • I find that the seat and steering wheel warmers work very well compared to what others say. They also activate and get to temperature quickly. That said, they don't get as warm at max temp as my 2018 Macon or wife's 2023 X7. But that's fine for me as I don't like it screaming hot even in the coldest weather.
  • I've found the infotainment system pretty intuitive and easy to navigate for the most part. Especially compared to the X7, which took much longer to figure out. It's easy to find a shortcut or how to watching YouTube videos for stuff you can't figure out.
That's stuff off top of my head, not sure if any of it is helpful but happy to be a new member of the forum. I'm very happy overall so far!

Welcome and congrats.

Hi, rnr here, writing from Arkansas. I’m a newly retired attorney/business owner (lumber/building materials). I’ve been a Toyota Land Cruiser owner for many, many years. I’ve owned an FJ40, FJ62, FJ80, FJ100 and a couple of 200 series. I still have my 2017 Land Cruiser which has 100k miles and has been set up for over landing, and thus retired from daily use. This is why I purchased the new GX. I wanted the petrol engine and the added towing capacity, so the Lexus it was. I love outdoor activities and ride a mountain bike and adventure motorcycles, hence the need for the towing capacity. I have a wife of 30 yrs and 4 boys. Glad to be a part of the forum. I’m very pleased with my 2024 Overtrail Plus, which now has about 8k miles.

Congrats and welcome. Post some pics.

Just picked my OT up this week. Loving it so far. Awesome. Took it a little off road to test out the system and all looks good. Excited to get this out on the trails!

LexusGXForum.com is all about the all new, completely redesigned 2024 Lexus GX. Our goal is to be the #1 resource for Lexus GX 550 owners and enthusiasts.

To keep the place friendly, we ask that every new member post up an introduction thread letting us know a little bit about themselves.

Please help us keep this site friendly and informative! Thanks in advance.
Hello from the flat land of Edmond, OK. This is my first Lexus! My previous vehicles have included a couple of Landcruisers (1988 & 1991), and a 2015 4Runner. The landcruisers always seemed lacking in power, especially loaded down and traveling in the mountains in Colorado. The 4runner was a great car, never had any issues with power. So I was a little hesitant with ordering my GX550 (with the turbocharged V-6 because of the landcruiser experience). However I have been very pleased with the power. It travels great on the highway and in the mountains.

Hello from San Antonio, TX. I took delivery of a white OT+ late December. The GX has no issues so far except for an infotainment glitch/reset while driving this AM. I'm still driving my 2016 LC and will likely get it lifted at some point.

Congrats and welcome. Post some pics.
Here are some pics when I took delivery before I washed it. I told my dealer not to detail the vehicle. There were some stains on the hood (looked like rust water) requiring some clay bar to remove and the stains superficially damaged the paint and will be easily paint corrected when I get around to it.

Hi all. On the list for a 25 Lux+ since the beginning of January. Waiting for specific interior/exterior colors and options so it may be a bit. Replacing a 16 Yukon Denali (only 47k on it!). Always enjoy the months long anticipation when ordering vehicles.

Taking delivery next week of a 550 Luxury+. Have been a PNW Subaru household for a long time (Forester XT, Imprezas) but am looking forward to the upgrade and Lexus has always been the only lux vehicle I'd really be interested in. Also have a two-tone 1991 F250 4x4 diesel with regular cab for kicking around and playing redneck. Looking forward to learning lots here!

Hey from Tennessee - moved into a GX550 after several years of missing my lx470. Look forward to seeing everyones builds!

If anyone has pointers on how to mitigate rubbing with Falken Wildpeak A/T4W LT285/65R20 on the factory rims, it would be greatly appreciated! Have the wescott 2" collar on it already.
