GX550 Overtrail Vibration

That’s on a smooth paved road? That’s ridiculous. Sorry to everyone who’s experiencing that.
Just a standard city road. Not perfectly smooth, no. The larger bumps in the vid is the car going over the crosswalk. On perfectly paved roads its pretty smooth. Either way this isn’t ‘normal’

Ive had mine for about 1.5 weeks - love the vehicle however I do have one problem. My gas tank must be leaking everyday; whenever I go for even a short ride my range when I fill it up is down to how many blocks I can travel - despite trying to drive normally. I filled up earlier in the week - took two short drives and I think it's empty again.....can't be the fuel economy....
This thread is for us vibration issue please

Wow, this is great data. Thanks!

To be clear, you all drove an OT+ with no vibration (the technician’s) and yours back to back? And everyone acknowledged the difference, so there’s no “this is normal” argument to be made?
Thank you for the clarification request I meant to include that. The Lexus Specialist OT+ did have some vibration but significantly less but he did say there shouldn’t be any and his wasn’t right. The issue he stated is there aren’t enough at the dealers to compare in the same location by the same team

Also forgot to add I have 2 friends that have the First Edition Landcruiser. I’ve driven both of theirs and they are smooth as silk on all pavement conditions

Hi all, good info being passed along! I am currently on a 5,500 mile roadtrip with my OT. Been dealing with the vibration issue since day one, been to the dealership multiple times and have a ticket currently open about the vibration issue, always slapped with the ole “this is a normal driving characteristic for this vehicle”. Having already done about 3k miles on the highway in the last 8 days, I can say that the vibration is much worse at 70mph or above. I have had 4 sets of new tires and wheels, all road force balanced and no fix. HOWEVER, on a positive note. I just got done doing multiple trails in Moab and most of the Alpine Loop in Durango/Silverton/Ouray Colorado, and this thing offroad is an absolute beast! Obviously 90% of the driving that I will be doing will be in the highway, but if you get a chance to take it offroad, you wont be disappointed. Ive been pretty irritated with Lexus over the past few months, but this past week surely took my mind off the vibration. My Lexus case manager has set me up an appointment with an engineer this upcoming week to hopefully get the issue figured out. Im in the Northern Va area, so if you’re in that area hit up Lexus as the engineer will be in town from 10/7-9..

Has anyone looked into the electrical connection on the shocks or replaced the shocks? If its an intermittent issue it might be a loose connection or the shock might be faulty.
I have disabled the AVS by pulling its fuse and didn’t notice a difference. Did same with eKDSS fuse. I think Lexus needs to put the non AVS shocks onto one of these trucks and see if that changes anything. Just killing the power to it will still make it remain in whatever stiffness it was already in.

Hey gang, update on mine. Have been going back and forth with the dealer, Lexus North America over the last couple weeks. I’ll spare you all the details, but the end result is Lexus has committed to repurchase the vehicle from me under our state’s lemon law.

I really like this vehicle and will either get a Land Cruiser or a different trim GX.

✌️

Mine’s exactly the same, at exactly 70 mph it kicks in real bad.

Wow. Lexus repurchased for what you paid for? What about sales tax? Wondering if Lexus will simply start repurchasing vehicles with similar vibration issues. Thx for sharing

Per the laws in my state, they have to repurchase for what I paid and cover the sales taxes (which I am sure they will be refunded on).

Sorry to hear that. Out of curiosity, what part of the state are you in that you’re that far from a dealer? I’m in the Durango area, and in a similar situation.
Grand Junction. I was planning on picking it up at the dealership but they offered to meet me half way. The sales manager said that Lexus wouldn’t let them order another GX until mine was off the lot. I let them know about the vibration but it will be a while before I can get it to them to inspect.

well I am in Oz, and my OT has the vibration issue. Noticed it the day I drove it from the dealership. So much so, I rang the dealership that day and they sent a technician to my house to inspect it. We took it for a test drive and he agreed the vibration was excessive. We both agreed that it feels like it is from the rear or middle of the car, not the front. The vibration amplifies (different to speeds up) as speed grows up to about 70kph. Then it softens higher than that. It is more noticeable coasting or steady throttle. More noticeable on acceleration than decelerating.

I have come out of a Toyota VX Prado (GX450 in the US) with the 2.8 Diesel, body on frame. Actually had a Prado before that one as well. I have had road based tyres and BFG KO2’s. it never experienced the vibration that I feel in my OT. So before anyone gets on here and says I need to check my expectations, well I have very realistic expectations and my knowledge of the Toyota Prado, with 18” Alloy Wheels, with different types of Tyre Types/Brands are my benchmark for acceptable ride and vibration levels.

I didn’t notice any vibration in the demo OT I took for a test drive.

I think that more people would notice the vibration in the OT compared to other models as it is stated by Lexus that the bolstering in the OT seats are firmer, meaning you will feel vibration more in OT seats compared to Luxury.

Car is going back to the dealer tomorrow for them to investigate. Hopefully I can get a faster response/fix than some of the users on here.

I hope they sort it mate, my OT is due in late Nov at the Parramatta garage so I pray I don’t have the same issue.
Please keep us all posted!

Sorry to hear that you’re one of the unlucky ones. I’m wondering now whether I should change my member name to “inlinefor2026OT+” until most if not all the issues are worked out, especially the vibration issue. Thx for sharing
