Aftermarket Rock Sliders With Step

Isn't a sliding rock going to stop rather abruptly when it hits this?

I asked NYTOP about that, and they said it was the OEM running board lighting, which you can opt to leave it off the vehicle for off-road usage. You'd have that issue with any flat rock slider like this. I'm not even sure the OT+ has one (I need to look under mine which now has the running boards, just got it yesterday!). If it does, and I want to keep it, I'll move it inboard and up. It will keep some lighting, but be out of the way.

Looks like a show stopper if you were using to the fullest. Also the single wall may be a issue as well. They do look to give good clearance under the step part. Likely ok for most. I have time to see what the market presents. As noted before, glad to see options early in the GX launch.
Hi, in addition to my answer about the OEM lights, FWIW NYTOP told me that "Our GX550 sliders are designed to provide about 6 inches of stepping surface. Almost as wide as the factory plastic side steps." They also said in response to my question about using them as a lift/jack point: " Yes you can definitely jack up the vehicle on the sliders if needed. They are designed to be able to fully support the weight of the vehicle." Again FWIW with respect to strength/etc.

Hi, one more piece of info from NYTOP. when I asked about strength in general, they said "Our sliders are made with 1/4 inch steel sheet metal on all weight-bearing surfaces. Our sliders also have internal ribs that are welded within that you can’t see from outside, for extra reinforcement." I checked around some and it looks like that thickness of steel would be considered relatively beefy. FWIW.

Yes 1/4" thick steel is beefy. I've seen other designs (not yet for GX) that use a boxed arm from the frame to the slider/step made of 1/4" vs. open flat ribs. Good to know on the step rail light in the image. Our OT+ has the light.

Working on a step for us with factory sliders!

I checked and my OT+ has a light as well, looks like it shines out on top of the running board at the passenger doors.
