GX550 Overtrail Vibration

After being at my dealer for two weeks, ordering a new rear tire, trying wheels and tires off an overtrail, my Luxury + still vibrates at all speeds. I am picking it back up tomorrow and opening a case with Lexus. My dealer has also reported the issue.
Good luck getting this resolved. Hope that the Luxury+ we are waiting on doesn't have that same issue.

Mine overtrail+ has the same issue they replaced the 4 tires they had a Lexus texh specialist look at it and still vibreates less but still vibrates and pretty much told me this is how the car is . Super disappointed

Have the people with these vibration issues driven another GX that felt noticeably better? Has anyone had a tech drive the two back to back?

My Overtrail+ has noticable vibration at all speeds on perfectly smooth roads. The hood flop is also present. The dealer took it to a collision center who added foam to the two part hood for stabilization, which resulted in a small improvement. The dealer attributed the vibration to an improperly weighted tire, and their techs replaced one tire and returned my vehicle after two weeks with the same issues. They stated that they didn't notice the vibration, but I don't think they wanted to deal with me anymore. I opened a case with Lexus. Also... There is a noticeable noise is when changing from Drive to Park. Anyone have that?
Any updates on this ? My dealer tried different tires, put overtrail tires on my Lux+ and still can’t get the vibration to go away. I opened a case also, and am waiting for a Lexus tech from HQ to come to Portland end of August.

Picked up my Luxury+ on Monday afternoon. Signed off on paperwork without a test drive. I immediately thought something was wrong when pulling out of the lot. Felt all kinds of weird vibrations and chattering (even at low speeds). Figured I was just used to being spoiled in my last two Defenders and that I'd get used to the stiffness and the 22 inch tires. Boy was I wrong. Had three other friends drive it and they all agreed something is wrong. Got a deal to trade it in for a Sequoia at another dealership, but decided to see if there was an actual issue that could be fixed. The dealer agreed the car wasn't behaving as it should and they test drove the other Luxury+ they have on the lot. They said the other one was actually worse than mine. They think it's probably something with the wheels and tires, but they are doing more research. In the meantime, I have a base TX as a loaner for the weekend and can tell you it rides 1,000,000 times nicer than my GX. If they can't fix it, I won't keep it.
Any updates on this ? My dealer put a new tire on, checked alignment and even put a set of overtrail wheels and tires in mine… the vibration and rough ride won’t go away. I open a case with Lexus and am waiting on a tech from HQ to drive it at the end of August. My dealer asked if I could get the last 8 digits of owners vins having the same issue so they could look into it for me in depth.

Have any of the people with this issue just had a tech ride with them back to back with a GX that doesn't have the vibration?? That would at least kill the claim that "it's normal".

After three weeks the dealer gave up on it. Said they could make it ride a little better, but the chatter was still too noticeable to be acceptable. They gave me a trade in on a Sequoia that rides 1000 times nicer. Here’s the VIN for my GX that they couldn’t fix.

My dealer doesn’t have any cars that aren’t sold, so the techs can’t drive them back to back with another lux +. If there are any Lux + owners in Portland OR please message me.

I picked up my OT+ a week a go today. I also have the vibrations. The suspension is rarely totally smooth. Even on 100% smooth black top you can feel a vibration or chatter coming through the frame. I took it in specifically to check the balance on all wheels. They test drove it and confirmed, they then drove another OT+ they had and said it did the same thing and it was normal and do to the “aggressive” tread on the tires. I told them just because they both do it, it doesn’t mean it’s correct. No suspension should chatter in perfectly smooth road. They reluctantly agreed to check the balance. They actually didn’t check it, they just tore of the weights and started over. After the balance the issue remained so they are supposed to have opened a ticket with engineering for further action. If you are having this issue please take yours in to get it checked out as the more cases they have the more quickly they are going to act on it. I thought mine was normal until I started to notice it was shaking and chattery even on totally smooth roads.
I’ll update as I get new information. This dealer is in Santa Barbara.

Picked up OT+ this week and thankfully don't have this issue but I will say it is a little jarring over bumps and imperfections in the road...not even major pot holes but just the average roads here in Houston it's a little buggy (like riding in a go cart bouncy). It's kind of a juxtapose being in the drivers seat with the nice upright seating position and bigger tires in my mind it would seem very planted and sturdy yet when it hits bumps it seems to rattle the rig.

Two months in on this issue with my OT+. A regional Lexus engineer from Atlanta came to Durham, NC and drove my vehicle. Two tires were replaced and balanced. Adhesive was added to the hood to reduce the flop when driving. I test drove a Premium with road tires, and while the vibration was less, it was noticable. Another OT+ that was being sold out of the dealership has the same, and I was told that the vibration is inherent to the vehicle. I have an open case with Lexus, but I am a bit fuzzy on how it improves my outcome. Lexus defers to the dealership who has been exceptionally professional, but my understanding is that there is nothing more to be done.

Thanks for the info. I’m thinking it will be the long game on getting this addressed to an acceptable level since they are replacing 100,000+ Tundra engines…

Check your tire pressure. My OT+ tires were at like 40 from the dealer and they should be at 35 PSI cold. It may make a difference.

If it was just on one vehicle it would be much easier to diagnose. If you feel it in every one you drive And no one else notices it perhaps you are just really sensitive to it and perhaps there is no fix to it?

Coming from my Defender with an incredible air suspension, I thought it was just me (also like the downgrade from the Meridian system to the crappy ML). But in the first half mile of driving 25 mph on our neighborhood street, my wife looked at me seriously and said she was going to need Dramamine if she ever had to ride in it again. I had three other friends drive it and they all thought there was no way it was how the car was supposed to ride. (One guy had a 2021 LC and was thinking about trading it in for a GX and said he had to scratch the GX of his list and he couldn’t get over how a perfectly smooth road could make the rear seat belts chatter.) My dealership 100% agreed and asked me not to sell it to any other dealer on a trade bc they didn’t want this vehicle out on the streets. So rather than being too sensitive, I feel bad for people driving around in GXs with the same issue and just thinking it’s an acceptable way for an $84,000 vehicle to drive bc it’s body on frame and they’re not gonna cry about it.

This is absolutely insane. I take delivery in about a month and pray I don’t have this issue. I havnt read through the whole thread so forgive me if I repeat something. Logically the only way the see the issue is just your Gx vs the common gx would to drive the same trim levels back to back on same roads. And I know that’s almost impossible with the limited gx’s out there. Secondly it’s baffling to me that they can’t figure it out and unfortunately it might have to be you the owner to troubleshoot this issue(checking forums, etc). Sounds like the service department is trying the “low hanging fruit” but they need to get on the horn with an engineer. Selfishly I hope mine doesn’t have this issue but I hope for you there are enough gx’s out there having same issue they can get this figured out.

Not one person that I can find, has posted about this has driven a second GX550 and not felt the vibration. And none have had the vibration "fixed" once they had it. A few drove other gx's and felt the vibration, and a few weren't able to find other vehicles to drive. A vast majority haven't felt the vibration at all. Plus I have read a huge amount of online reviews on this vehicle and not one has mentioned this as an issue. Most state it isn't as nice riding as a "car" unibody, but the body on frame gives you a much better off road vehicle. This leads me to believe that there may well be a few GX's out there that have an issue, and there probable are some drivers out there who are more sensitive to this and are coming from cars not trucks and have a different expectation level. When I test drove one it felt fine, but I haven't received mine yet so I will withold judgement until I really put some miles on.
